6 Tools For Cleaning Up Your Nonprofit CRM

Keeping your NonProfit CRM organized, clean, and up-to-date is crucial to engaging your donors and raising more money.

When you start working on your fundraising and donor development planning for the coming year these tools will help your data stay clean and up-to-date.

1. Email Hippo

Email Hippo offers a service called Core that makes sure your CRM has clean emails only. Core allows you to upload all emails from your CRM, analyze the emails and provide you a list of all of the unsendable emails. Core looks for syntax errors (ex: no @ in the email), burner (disposable emails), and other emails that are not considered sendable. This will help you remove and update emails in your CRM.

2. CScore

CScore is a google sheets script developed by Charity Studio. In addition to providing donor scores and analysis, CScore tells you which contacts are missing emails or phone numbers. Contact us for information on CScore

3. Power Tools

Power Tools by Able Bits is a powerful add-on for Google Sheets (as well as for Microsoft Excel). The tool allows you to perform a number of functions that can help you clean up your data. With Power Tools, you can merge duplicates, update text case, split columns and more!

4. Smarty

Smarty is the simplest solution for USPS and International Address Validation. Look up one address or upload your entire database of addresses and let Smarty make sure you have the most up-to-date address information for your contacts.

5. WhitePages.com

White Pages gives you an easy way to quickly find contact information. Although not always accurate you can find cell phone numbers, birthdays, maiden names and more.

6. Open Refine

OpenRefine (previously Google Refine) is a powerful tool for working with messy data. One of the ways you can use open refine is when you have columns of data that are similar but should be exact. One example would be you have rows that say the full name of the state (Florida) and the two-letter state code (FL). Open Refine can ensure your data stays clean and consistent.
